Was a director and producer known for launching the American regional theater movement and for introducing “Theater 47” in Dallas, Texas which was among the first theaters in the round. Giving her the name the Texas Tornado! Margaret served as the assistant director of the Federal Theater in Houston, Texas in the late 1930’s and was a faculty member of the University of Texas, Austin theater and drama department. She was the founder and director of the Houston Community Theater. She was able to have a successful career on Broadway bringing the theater outside of Broadway in New York, leading the way for touring shows.
